CARAVAN ACCESSORIES

Something that can make or break your dream caravanning holiday is having the right equipment and accessories to get you through any situation that may arise along the way. Apart from the must-haves – such as gas, water, and waste storage – you may also find you need other items, such as rope, generators, cool storage, and other emergency supplies. It’s also important that you understand how to use all of your equipment and that you keep everything in good repair.

Cooking appliances are one of the most important investments you can make if you are planning to go on long trips or on holidays to remote areas. Although many of today’s high-tech caravans come with a fully fitted kitchen, you may also want to invest in a portable gas-powered barbecue. This gives you the freedom to go on trips with larger numbers of people, and to cook outdoors if the climate permits. Portable gas cookers are another great option, as they work in the same manner as a stove-top – you can make a cup of tea in the great outdoors!

Protecting yourself from the weather is another crucial factor for consideration. Awnings are a good investment, as the fabric or plastic roofing and walls (which can be attached to the side of a caravan) extend the living areas of your caravan site and keep out rain, hail and snow, and the hot summer sun. If you are travelling to a northern region or are planning a winter escape, you will also need to think about taking a table-top heater. These can be used outside (under awnings or in the open), and keep everyone warm and happy.

Other important accessories include insect repellents (candles, sprays, zappers), water storage (for outdoor showers or extra supply), batteries (for running appliances, lighting, and back-up power), waste storage (in case you are not at a plumbed site) and security (locks and security systems to protect your caravan and belongings).
